Swim:

Explore the many river beaches in the area. Closest by is the river beach in Avô chosen as the River Beach of the Year 2024.

Other beautiful swimming spots include Praia fluvial de Loriga, Praia fluvial Alvoco das Varzeas and the waterfall in Poço da Broca da Barriosa. And this is just a short selection of the many swim spots in the area.

Eat:

Enjoy a coffee and Pastel de Nata in the cosy village square of Coja, or try the new restaurant: Clementina, with stunning terrace in Avô. Also Verandas Verdes in Ponte das Tres Entradas can be recommended. Further afield you can enjoy lunch in the beautiful garden of the trout restaurant or experience a traditional Portuguese meal in one of the many village restaurants. You can always ask us for further references.

Walking & Cycling

With the Serra da Estrela right on our doorstep there are many signposted walks to explore. Explore one of the many walks around Lorigaexploring  waterfalls, where one has been pictured in the National Geographic Magazine! Or explore traditional schist villages with one of the stunning walks around Lousã or Aigra Nova. Or choose a closer walk from the quinta to Avô or Santa Ovaia, where you can take a rest in one of the local bars and enjoy a cold drink or a coffee and a Pastel de Nata. You will enjoy the local flair, pittoresque buildings and a beautiful scenery.  

Rent a mountain or e-bike at Acor Bike, the bike shop in Coja and enjoy some stunning bike rides exploring the local scenery. They will give you good advice or alternatively choose tours on pages like bikemap, komoot and bergfex.

Visit

Explore stunning views and a coffee at the mountain Torre of the Serra da Estrela, visit the Fraga da Pena waterfall, a traditional schist village and enjoy a lunch or a homemade liquor in Talasnal or explore the old university town of Coimbra.

Shopping 

You can get local produce and artisan products as well as a large variety of food at the markets in Tábua, Coja & Arganil.  The nearest city with bigger supermarkets is Oliveira do Hospital. There are also regular artisan markets, great places for food and souvenirs.
